Please read these terms before downloading OpenQP. By selecting “I Agree and Download,” you confirm that you have read and accept this Agreement and the license accompanying the downloaded version.
1. Free Academic and Noncommercial Use
OpenQP is available free of charge to eligible users at academic and nonprofit research institutions solely for noncommercial research and teaching, subject to the accompanying license. Academic affiliation alone does not qualify a commercial activity for free use.
2. Commercial Use Requires a Separate Agreement
Any use by or on behalf of a commercial entity requires a separate written commercial license from Open Quantum Inc. This includes commercial research and development, consulting, contract calculations, fee-based services, and use in commercial products or services.
Industry-sponsored research and collaborative projects conducted for a commercial entity also require a commercial license, even when the calculations are performed at an academic institution. The appropriate written agreement must be obtained before such use begins.
3. Scientific Integrity
Users agree to use OpenQP in accordance with accepted standards of scientific integrity. Computational procedures and results must be described accurately, and any modifications to the software that materially affect the reported results must be disclosed.
Users are responsible for selecting appropriate methods, checking convergence and numerical reliability, and supporting scientific conclusions with sufficient evidence.
4. Good-Faith Scientific Use and Communication
Users are expected to use OpenQP in good faith and report computational procedures and results accurately. Users are encouraged to communicate suspected software errors or unexpected numerical results to the OpenQP development team, preferably before publication, and to provide sufficient information for reproduction and investigation.
Scientific reports should carefully distinguish implementation errors, computational settings, and limitations of the underlying theoretical methods. OpenQP welcomes independent evaluation and constructive criticism; prior approval from the developers is not required for publication.
5. Citation and Acknowledgment
Publications using OpenQP must cite the relevant OpenQP publication and the original references for the methods used, as identified in the documentation.
Additional scientific contributions should be acknowledged in accordance with accepted scholarly practice. Software use or routine technical assistance does not, by itself, establish entitlement to authorship.
6. License Compliance and Distribution
Users must comply with the license accompanying their OpenQP version and preserve applicable copyright and license notices. Redistribution, sublicensing, and third-party access are permitted only to the extent expressly allowed by that license or a separate written agreement.
Third-party components remain subject to their respective licenses. This Agreement does not replace those licenses or restrict rights independently granted under them. Copies of earlier OpenQP versions lawfully obtained under a different license remain governed by the terms applicable to those copies.
7. No Warranty and Limitation of Liability
To the extent permitted by applicable law, OpenQP is provided “as is,” without warranties of accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose, or uninterrupted or error-free operation. Users are responsible for assessing the suitability of the software and verifying results before relying on them.
To the extent permitted by applicable law, Open Quantum Inc. and the contributors shall not be liable for losses or damages arising from the use of, or inability to use, OpenQP. Maintenance, technical support, updates, and correction of reported issues are not guaranteed unless separately agreed in writing.
