Below is the invitation letter.

Dear Colleagues and Friends,

It is our great pleasure to welcome you to join the second edition of the NHISS series of conferences “NHISS2021: Light-Matter Interaction: Theory meets Experiment” (https://nhiss.edison.re.kr), which will be held on 22–25 November, 2021, on the beautiful island of Jeju, South Korea. The relentless progress of experimental techniques empowers the researchers to study the light-matter interaction on ever decreasing time scale thus enabling understanding of these phenomena at an unprecedented depth. The interpretation of the experimental observations however requires thorough input from theoretical modeling and analysis, where the development of new computational techniques and their practical implementations is gaining pace. As both fields, the theory and the experiment, have reached their maturity, it is time to extend communication between the researchers and to let them discuss their findings in a relaxing atmosphere of a world class holiday destination, the beautiful island of Jeju. We hope to make NHISS2021 an unforgettable occasion that will, surely, create multiple opportunities for fruitful collaboration between experimenters and theoreticians.

Due to the current COVID-19 situation, the most likely format for the conference is a combination of the on-site and the online presentations. We very much hope that you will be able to accept this invitation, which will assist in bringing success to the conference. We are looking forward to hearing from you soon.

With best wishes

Cheol Ho Choi, Michael Filatov and Ruth Lee
